Do You Have a Welcome Mat?

The word WELCOME stood out to me at my yoga class today. I hadn't been in a while and needed to stop the excuses. This class wasn't hot, humid, or hurried. It was warm, gentle, and deep. The instructor mentioned how we need to welcome ourselves to this practice. Accept where we are and that there was nothing we needed to change. Just to be aware, accept, and welcome.

It got me thinking about what I do. I work with women who want to live the life they truly want but there is usually something that needs to change. Change is hard and isn't always welcomed. But if there are changes to be made, the first step is to notice and welcome who you are, how you show up, and invite yourself to come in. Just like a guest that may come to the door. They ring the bell and you see who is at the door. Is it a Girlscout selling cookies? A doorknocker encouraging you to vote? A neighbor kid asking to play with your son? You welcome (or not) them into your home and invite them in. We can do this with ourselves too. We can notice how we are showing up. How do we feel? What are we thinking? Why are we doing what we are doing? Just notice and acknowledge without judgment. Then we can choose to welcome those thoughts, feelings, or behaviors to do their work in our life. Which ones belong and which ones will you keep out?

That is where change can begin. Knowing the things we need to change and the things that are just to be accepted. Those things that need to change are those that don't belong. They go against your values. They get in the way of your goals and dreams.

But the things you become aware of that are to be accepted and welcomed, they belong. Make space for them and give them room to grow. Feed them, offer them something to drink. And when it's time to go, thank them for being a part of your life and be thankful for what they taught you.

I want to welcome you to the life you truly want. Sometimes we are so busy making sure everyone else has what they need, we neglect what we want in life. we put other people first and our hopes, dreams, and desires are put on the shelf for another day. Is it time to dust off those things you have put off and start to welcome them into your life? I would love to help you rediscover who you are and what you truly want. Set up a time to chat and see how I can support you in this journey we call life.
