Do You Need to Leave the Country to Take Care of Yourself and Reset?

Three weeks in Indonesia sounds like a dream. I mean, who wouldn't want to go to Bali?

For one yoga instructor I know, it was exactly that.

Officially, she was attending an advanced yoga teacher training. She had signed up months earlier, arranged her schedule, and told everyone she was excited to deepen her practice and expand her teaching skills.

And while all of that was true, it wasn't the whole truth.

What she really needed was to get away.

Away from the constant demands of running a business. Away from the never-ending responsibilities at home. Away from the pressure of showing up for everyone else while quietly putting herself at the bottom of the list.

She spent her days teaching mindfulness, self-care, and balance. Yet somehow, she had drifted so far from practicing those things herself that it took traveling halfway around the world to finally hit the reset button.

When she returned, she shared something that stuck with me. She said,

"I didn't realize how exhausted I was

until I finally stopped."

That's the thing about burnout.

It rarely announces itself.

It doesn't usually show up one morning and say, "You're done."

Instead, it sneaks in through skipped lunches, ignored boundaries, late-night emails, canceled workouts, and the belief that you'll take care of yourself after you finish helping everyone else.

Until one day, you find yourself researching flights to Indonesia because a weekend off doesn't seem like enough.

The irony wasn't lost on her.

As a yoga instructor, she guides others toward healthier habits every day. She teaches people how to listen to their bodies, honor their needs, and create space for rest.

Yet she had stopped doing those things for herself.

And she's not alone.

I see this all the time with health and wellness providers.

Yoga instructors. Personal trainers. Health coaches. Therapists. Nutritionists. Massage therapists.

The very people dedicated to helping others live healthier, more balanced lives often struggle to make themselves a priority.

Not because they don't know what to do.

Because they become so focused on caring for everyone else that they forget they're part of the equation.

The lesson from her story isn't that everyone needs a three-week retreat in Indonesia.

Most people can't do that.

The real lesson is that we shouldn't wait until an escape feels necessary.

Self-care works best when it's preventative, not emergency treatment.

Small, consistent actions—a protected lunch break, stronger boundaries around work hours, time blocked for movement, recovery, or simply doing nothing- can prevent the kind of depletion that makes running away feel like the only option.

The truth is, most health and wellness professionals don't need a plane ticket.

They need a reset.

A chance to pause long enough to reconnect with their own needs before exhaustion turns into burnout.

That's exactly why I created the Summer Reset.

This four-session experience is designed specifically for those who spend so much time caring for others that they've stopped caring for themselves. Together, we'll identify what's draining your energy, uncover what's been pushed to the back burner, and create realistic strategies that help you become a priority again.

You deserve the same care, attention, and support that you give everyone else.

And unlike a three-week trip across the world, this reset is something you can start right now.

If you've been feeling stretched thin, overwhelmed, or disconnected from your own well-being, the Summer Reset is your invitation to come back to yourself before burnout makes the decision for you.
